Friday Cat-erpillar Blogging: Character Character Sketch IV

In previous posts, I have commented on the art of Alice in Wonderland Caterpillars here, here and here. A new version of the Caterpillar appears on the TV series, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. This caterpillar art was created by Bulgarian, Tsvetomir Georgiev. Unlike the biologically realistic Michael Kutsche Caterpillar, the Georgiev Caterpillar is more mechanical. The legs are posterior to the “thoracic segments”, claws are bilobed and the abdomen has jointed legs on each segment (like a centipede) rather than prolegs.

The Caterpillar has been in the news lately as the voice from the character passes from one rock musician to another. Roger Daltrey, was the original voice of the caterpillar and who better than the former lead singer of The Who to ask, “Who are you?” The new voice will be Iggy Pop, the avant-garde pop star known for stage diving and performance art.
