Hope for Dry Weather

Mosquito Bite

Mosquito Bite

The 2016 Summer Olympics will be held from August 5 to 21, only a few months from now. The Zika virus epidemic in Brazil could put a damper on the games. Fortunately, August is Brazil’s dry season when mosquito populations are usually at their lowest levels. Authorities are planning to increase efforts at eliminating or treating standing water in the areas of the events. These methods have been successful in preventing other diseases transmitted by the same mosquitoes. Hopefully, the epidemic will run its course and be on the way out 5 months from now.
