Chinese artist and sculptor Ren Ri works with bees wax, subtly manipulating bees to produce works of art. Ren Ri is also a beekeeper, observing and working with bees for years in preparation for his art. Ren Ri positions sticks and other scaffolding inside a plastic sphere and tethers a queen bee in a strategic location. The worker bees build the honeycomb structure in relation to the queen and environmental cues. Ren Ri used strategic placement of scaffolding to manipulate bees into creating a map of the world with their honeycomb.
